Sapperton Village Hall - an Arts and Crafts building of international importance

The Gloucestershire village of Sapperton is intimately connected with three Arts and Crafts architects and designers: Ernest Gimson (1864-1919), Ernest Barnsley (1863-1926) and his younger brother Sidney Barnsley (1865-1926).

Ernest Barnsley was commissioned by Lilias, Countess Bathurst to design a building for use by the local community in 1912. The site chosen was the former village wheelwrights yard on which Gimson had set up a smithy in 1903. Sapperton Village Hall still stands on this site 100 years later. Sapperton Village Hall was given to the people of Sapperton in 1969 by the 8th Earl Bathurst.

The Hall has a Grade II listing and is set in the stunning Village of Sapperton in the heart of the Cotswolds, only yards from the Church. Celebrating its centenary this year it makes an exceptional venue.

The Hall Trustees can tailor your rental requirements to suit any occasion with flexible and affordable packages to suit every budget.
